Major Accomplishments

Onondaga Community College honored the top student in each major during the Curriculum Honors Ceremony. The awards were handed out in Storer Auditorium April 29. Each student received a certificate and a blue stole which will be worn at commencement. Recognized for excellence within their field of study were the following students:

Student Ellie Abraham received the Civic Engagement Recognition award and Taylia Rodriguez was awarded with the Outstanding Service-Learning Award.

OCC’s three USA Today Phi Theta Kappa All-New York State students were also recognized. Kate Hanson and Marigone Istogu earned First Team honors. Katelyn Donor was named to the Second Team.

The College’s four SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence were honored. They are Seth Bae, Nathan Burroughs, Michaela Grainger and Petey Maxwell.

Throughout the event students enrolled in OCC’s signature Music program performed. The Vocal Chamber Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. David Rudari sang the National Anthem and OCC’s Alma Mater. Also, student Charles Koder wowed the audience when he played Jeux d’eau on the piano.
