The OCC Career Fair is two weeks away! Nailing the Career Fair is all about preparation. We’ve got 5 things you need to do in order to get ready.
Note: The OCC Career Fair is on Wednesday, February 27th from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the SRC Arena.
Have a Career Advisor View Your Resume
Don’t go into the Career Fair with an unpolished resume. Have our career advisors review it a week in advance. That way you have time to make changes. You can schedule an appointment to review your resume by calling 315 498-2585 or emailing careerservices@sunyocc.edu.
…And Be Prepared to Talk About It
If you put something on your resume, you’ll need to be prepared to talk about it. Don’t say that you’re outgoing if you have trouble approaching people for the first time.
Research the Employers Coming to the Career Fair
An important part about being ready for the Career Fair is making a plan of who you want to talk to and see ahead of time.
To see who is coming to the Career Fair:
- Login to Purplebriefcase and click on “my events”
- Find the OCC Internship, Volunteer and Jobs Fair on February 27th
- Click on the “registered employers” symbol
Create an “Elevator Pitch”
Once you know the employers you want to visit, develop an “elevator pitch” for the ones you really want to work for. What’s an elevator pitch? It’s a brief, 30-60 second statement that should tell the employers about you and your career goals.
Bring Copies of Your Resume
You’ve put in all the hard work! Now make sure you bring copies of your resume for potential employers. You can print copies at Career Services in Coulter 110.
Join us for the Career Fair on Wednesday, February 27th from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the SRC Arena. Got questions or need assistance? Need professional attire for the day? Visit Career Services at Coulter 110 or get in touch with them at 15 498-2585 or careerservices@sunyocc.edu.
