What’s Happening for Week 4 of Spring Classes

Hello students, and welcome to the fourth week of school. This Thursday is Valentine’s Day, so make sure to set aside some time to take your significant other on a romantic date!

FEBRUARY MAKER CHALLENGE: Make something that does something only using toilet paper/paper towel rolls and tape. Bring your creation to Makerspace during open hours or share a photo on Twitter or Instagram with #OCCmakers. Deadline is Thursday, February 28, 2019. All entries received will be entered into a drawing for an iTunes or Google Play gift card.

February is VHS Tape Recycling month. Bring any old VHS tapes to the Coulter Hall Lobby bin for recycling and feel good about the environment!

  • Nucor Steel/Auburn will be on campus to talk to NET/ELT students about the company and future internships.

Attention: Tuesday is the last day to drop a class with no grade via Student Center. Tuesday is also the last day to apply for a 25% refund of tuition.

  • Come one and all to the Spring 2019 kick-off/information session for the OCC Toastmasters Club.  If you’re looking to improve your public speaking skill or to sharpen your interviewing skills, the OCC Toastmaster Club may be able to help!

  • OCC Spanish Club students Jayson Garcia and Lenin Ayala-Bey show a short documentary and discuss their experiences with Afro-Nicaraguans. Light refreshments will be served.

11:15 AM – 12:15 PM, Lazer Lounge, “For the Culture” Open Mic & Poetry Expo

  • Wanna just say what’s on your mind while listening to smooth jazz? Come show your talents as we celebrate the freedom of expression. You can sign-up in advance or on the spot. Light refreshments and door prizes will be available.
