Celebrating Latino-Hispanic-Latinx Heritage Month

Onondaga Community College is making Hispanic Heritage Month bigger and better than ever. The celebration traditionally runs from September 15 to October 15. OCC’s Hispanic Heritage Month Workgroup chose a theme for this year’s event, “Many Identities, One Tapestry.” The group also decided to expand the event on campus and rename it Latino-Hispanic-Latinx Heritage Month. A robust list of related events are scheduled including:

 

Meet Spanish Club Officer at the “Get Involved Fair”

Studying Abroad in the Dominican Republic and Belize

  • Date: Monday, September 10
  • Time: 11:10am-12:20pm
  • Location: Mawhinney Hall, room 345
  • Students who traveled to the Dominican Republic during the spring 2018 semester share their stories. Professors Rick McClain, Ben Miller and Tim Scott also discuss an upcoming study abroad opportunity to Belize in 2019.

 

Refugees Discuss Changes in U.S. Immigration Policies and the Impact on our Country (panel discussion)

  • Perez Williams is a U.S. Navy Veteran and former candidate for Syracuse Mayor and the 24th Congressional District.
