1. Join a Club or Organization

2. Become a Social Media Reporter

Do you love posting to social media? Are you a fan of taking photos and videos? Would you like vlog or blog for the college? If you answered yes to any one of these questions then the social media reporter position could be for you. Fill out the online application to get started with that today!

3. Apply to be a Student Ambassador

Do you feel passionate about being a Lazer? Then maybe becoming a student ambassador is right for you. You’ll get to take groups of prospective students on tours and tell them why it’s great to be a Lazer!

4. Run for Student Office

Last year’s Student Officers Pose for the Start of Semester

There are 6 student officers who are elected to 1-year positions. These officers help plan college events, market those events to the community, conduct service projects and influence campus decision making. The best part: all student officers are reimbursed for their tuition. Elections packets become available in February in the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement in Gordon 114 or on our website.

You could also run to be the next Student Trustee. They are responsible for sitting on the board of trustees which oversees the college’s president. While the position isn’t reimbursed, the student trustee is a voting member of the Board of Trustees. This means you’ll have a real chance to impact the policy that affects students.

Finally, you could also run to be a Senator-at-large for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Senators represent specific groups of student’s interests to the college.

Fill out the online form and select any of these options for more info!

5. Help Plan a Campus-wide Event

If you like events like Party on the Quad or Welcome Fest, then you might want to join the Entertainment and Programming Board at OCC. They help plan events related to student programming. Make your voice heard so we host the type of events you want to see! Fill out the online form to express your interest.

6. Volunteer for a Service Project

7. Mentor First-Year Students

If you’re a returning student, then you could apply to be a first-year peer mentor for incoming students. You’ll be focused on connecting with first-year students by helping them get involved in campus life, reminding them of important dates and making sure they are on track to graduate. Fill out our online form to receive more information on how you can help the next generation of Lazers succeed.

8. Become a Resident Assistant (RA)

There are lots of reasons why you should become an RA. You’ll get to lead a group of students in the residence halls and get them involved when they come to OCC. You’ll also get free room and board! Fill out our online form to get more info on becoming an RA or getting involved with residence life in general.
