There’s a new leadership team in the College’s Office of Veterans’ Affairs and they’re committed to providing Student Veterans with the services they need during their time on campus. “We have an open door policy,” said Amy Monnat. “We want all of our Veterans to feel welcome, to know their questions will be answered and to know we can walk them through the path of being a student here from start to finish.”
Monnat and Steve White bring a diverse skill set to the Office of Veterans’ Affairs. Previously she worked as an Enrollment Associate while he assisted students as an Advisor. “I see us as partners in helping our Student Veterans,” said White. “She has expertise in the certification process. With my background I understand curriculums, how to model a schedule with some balance and how to successfully transfer. Together we have diverse capabilities which will allow us to provide more services out of this office.”
White knows what it is like to be a Veteran on a college campus. After serving four years in the United States Marine Corp he became a student. “When I was in college there wasn’t an office like this. It was tough to make the adjustment. There was a transition period. I view my role here as an opportunity to serve and give back.”
The Office of Veterans’ Affairs is located on the second floor of Coulter Hall near the top of the main stairway in room C217. You can contact the office by phone at (315) 498-2200 or by email at email@example.com.
