OCC’s best and brightest students are working on a research-based project about recycling and they want to share what they’ve learned with you. That’s why on November 30th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. members of international honor society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) will host, “The Truth About Recycling.” The free educational event is open to the campus and surrounding community members of all ages.
The event will begin with an Environmental Education Fair at 6 p.m. Attendees will learn simple ways to make a positive impact on the environment. PTK students will be joined by environmentally-focused groups including OCC’s Whole Earth Club, Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency, OCC’s Architecture Club, Onondaga County’s “Save the Rain” program, OCC’s Politics Club and more.
At 7 p.m. attendees will have the opportunity to hear from distinguished speakers including New York State Assemblymember Pamela J. Hunter (D-Syracuse). Keynote speaker will be Theresa Evans of the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency. She will discuss the myths and realities of recycling and the tangible positive impacts every citizen can have on the environment.
This event is part of PTK students annual Honors In Action program which begins with research and results in action.
