Exhibit of Dreams

The "Exhibit of Dreams" is located near the main entrance of the newly renovated Coulter Library.

The “Exhibit of Dreams” is located just inside the main entrance of the newly renovated Coulter Library.

Their dreams may well be your dreams and now they are on-display for you to read about and learn from. The new “Exhibit of Dreams” is open in Coulter Library. It’s located just inside the main entrance immediately to the left.

The exhibit features large color portraits of ten OCC Black faculty and staff. Next to each person’s photo is a brief story or meaningful quote which has inspired them. As you read the stories you will find one person who lost her father to HIV in the 90s, another who was told he would never amount to anything because of the color of his skin, a motivational quotation from Martin Luther King, Jr. and a simple yet meaningful quote from cartoon character Dennis the Menace which keeps one person focused.

The photographs were taken by Meredith Cantor-Feller, Interim Dean of Visual, Performing & Applied Arts. The Project Director was Professor Fantasia Thorne-Ortiz.

We encourage you to take a few minutes of your time, look at each photo and read the message alongside it. You might discover one or more person who shares the same dream as you!
