Liz Angle has wanted to be a teacher as long as she can remember. Her desire to help others has played a significant role in her life. Angle is an officer in the Student Association and the student representative on the Onondaga Community College Association Board. “I like to help people. In my role with the Student Association I am able to help other students.” Being in that position has also made a difference in how Angle views herself. “I’m a reserved person. You have to be a leader to be part of Student Association. I feel I have developed into one.”

During the spring 2016 semester the Early Childhood Education major interned in the College’s Children’s Learning Center. “It was very hands-on. Between coming up with lesson plans and working with children it was a great opportunity for me.” Angle is now an employee there, working as an office aids and assisting in classrooms as needed.

Angle is also teaching in a different way. She’s a first generation college student who is setting an example for family members. “I’m a role model for my nieces and nephews. I’m showing them education is important and they need to go to college. Without college you’re not going to get very far in life.” Angle will set the ultimate example in May 2017 when she walks across the stage at the SRC Arena and receives her degree.
