Onondaga Community College students continue to dominate NASA’s Community College Aerospace Scholars Program. In the spring semester five OCC students were selected to participate. They were the only five students selected in all of New York State.

The program allows students to take part in special courses and travel to a NASA facility where they will work side-by-side with NASA Engineers on special projects. OCC’s five representatives are:

  • Lenoi Carter – Engineering Science major from Jamaica
  • Jevar Carter – Engineering Science major from Corcoran H.S.
  • Jacob Hammond – Engineering Science major from Carthage H.S.
  • Brian Richardson – Engineering Science major from Liverpool H.S.
  • Amil Vargas-Castillo – Mathematics & Science major from Puerto Rico

“It’s a tremendous accomplishment for our students to be the only ones selected in all of New York State,” said Fred Jaquin, Chair of OCC’s Chemistry and Physical Science department. “It’s quite a statement about the work being done in our classrooms.”
