Students and faculty returning to campus for the fall semester were welcomed by a brand new West Quad. Demolition on the old quad began immediately after commencement in May. Construction crews were busy throughout the summer building the new quad. On the first day of classes work was continuing on the area around the new clock tower. Also new to the West Quad are rain gardens which will capture storm water runoff. Water from the pavement and grass will flow into the rain gardens where it will infiltrate the soil. This process cleans the water and prevents excessive amounts of storm water from flowing directly into Furnace Brook. You can view a slideshow of the West Quad’s transformation below.
