OCC employees who participated in the SUNY Wellness Challenge were treated to an awards ceremony May 18. Prizes were handed out following an 8-week-long competition which utilized a team approach to encourage building healthier lifestyles and workplaces. Four-person teams earned points by tracking their steps, engaging in exercise routines, eating five fruits and vegetables a day and tracking how much weight they lost.
OCC’s winning team was named “2 Tri 4 Fitness.” Team members were Enid Reiley, Kathy McCadden, Rebecca Dadey and Mark Manning. Team members were rewarded with a one month unlimited membership at Core Fitness Training in Western Lights Plaza, a prize valued at $100.
Individual champions included:
- Deborah Starczewski who scored more point than any other employee. She received a $50 gift certificate to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
- Pam Stepien took more steps than any other competitor. She was awarded a $25 gift certificate from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
- Laurie Updegrove lost more weight by percentage than any other employee. She received a $25 gift certificate to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
