Ivan Hanson has discovered his passion at OCC. After graduating from Christian Brothers Academy in 2011, Hanson went to a four-year school and majored in Physics. “Two years in I realized it wasn’t my thing.” Hanson transferred to OCC and found his thing, Architectural Technology. “I really love it. It’s my passion.”
In the spring of 2014 part of Hanson’s curriculum involved studying the College’s newest building, Academic II as it was going through the LEED certification process. LEED, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a green building certification program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. “I enjoyed learning about LEED so much I spent part of my summer studying for the LEED Green Associate exam.” He passed it with flying colors. “I think the College being part of the green movement is great not only for students like myself but for the entire community.”
Hanson is on track to graduate in May 2015. He plans to transfer and pursue his bachelor’s degree.
