Raul Ceballos is living the American dream right here in Central New York. He’s working hard to improve his life through education, first at Liverpool High School and now at OCC.
Ceballos came to the United States from Cuba along with his parents and brother in 2010. “We moved here in December. It was very cold but we got used to it quickly,” he said. Ceballos went to Liverpool High School and found the help he needed to overcome huge challenges. “I didn’t know how to say anything in English. My counselor and English as Second Language teacher helped me a lot.”
Ceballos graduated from Liverpool in 2012. He came to Onondaga where he is pursuing a degree in Humanities and Social Sciences. “Everyone at OCC has been great. My teachers are very helpful.”
Ceballos is on track to graduate May 2015. His goal is to transfer to a four-year school and major in business.
