Three OCC students were big winners in the “Best of SUNY” Student Art Awards. The students were chosen by individual art departments across SUNY’s 64 campuses. Areas of competition included drawing, ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, mixed media, photography sculpture, and digitally produced works.

OCC’s three winners were:

  • Kathryn Griffin, sophomore, Holmes H.S., Edenton, NC
  • Skyla Hays-Taber, freshman, Jamesville-Dewitt H.S., Dewitt
  • John Jastremski, sophomore, Cicero-North Syracuse H.S., Cicero

The winning artwork was displayed at the State Museum in Albany during the summer months. “Showcasing our top student works from the past year, this annual exhibit has become a must-see attraction for those who live in Albany as well as the museum’s many visitors from across the state and nation. Congratulations to all of this year’s contributors,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.
